Description: A celebration of the wildlife that inhabits the Seeley-Swan Valley, the festival includes guided nature walks that explore loon and other animal habitat, children's activities, local arts and crafts for sale and demonstrations by local artisans. Sponsored by the Montana Watchable Wildlife program, Alpine Artisans and US Forest Service.Alpine Artisans is an organization committed to encouraging arts in the Seeley-Swan Valley. They sponsor the annual Loon & Fish Festival over Memorial Day weekend in Seeley Lake. Other yearly activities include a Wine & Chocolate art auction in February which funds a high school scholarship and visits to local artists' studios. The Loon & Fish Festival coincides with the nesting of Loons on the lakes in the Seeley-Swan Valley, and there are guided tours given by Forest Service personnel. The two day festival is also an opportunity to buy art work by local artisans and see demonstrations of various crafts.
Directions: Loon & Fish Festival Arts & Crafts is located at the Seeley Lake Elementary School Gym Community Hall, Highway 83; Ranger station at mile marker 18, Highway 83, for bird and loon viewing walks.
