Description: Beginning with the 'Great Pet Drive', Heritage Day receives a kick-off with the next generation of children and their pets. This is followed by the 'Heritage Day Parade' featuring the Heritage Family of the Year. The parade is loaded with pioneer wagons and buggies pulled by teams, mounted riders, floats and classic cars. The parade ends at Veteran's Memorial Park where a free feed is prepared for 1,000 people. A brief program and presentation in honor of the Heritage Family of the Year is then followed by an afternoon of old-fashioned family fun and games included croquet, volleyball, horseshoes, baseball, spoon races, gunny-sack races, a watermelon-eating contest and a seed-spitting contest. The whole day is free'no charge! The family games part of the day has waned, so the program part of the day has increased with entertainment scheduled for an hour and includes a performance by Miss Montana and an introduction of the Miss Northeastern Montana Scholarship Pageant contestants.
Directions: The Heritage Day parade will follow a route from East Main to Central Avenue. The Heritage Day program, barbecue and games will take place in Veteran's Memorial Park on the 600 block of South Central Avenue in Sidney.
